Last week, we had the pleasure of Rebecca joining us for a couple of days work experience as part of her structured placement. We thoroughly enjoyed having Rebecca with us and we hope we gave her a good taste of the Marketing mix and encouraged her that it’s a brilliant sector to work in!

Before she left, we did a quick Q and A with Rebecca to see what she enjoyed most about her time with us!

What is your full name and age?

My full name is Rebecca Sloan and I am 15 years old.

What stage of your life are you at just now?

I am in my fourth year of school and I’m about to sit my National 5 exams!

What is your Five year plan?

In 5 years’ time, I hope to either be in University or completing an Apprenticeship. I’m still not sure what I want to specialise in, but it will definitely be a business-related subject.

What made you contact GRA for work experience?

I came across their website and recognised some of their clients. This really interested me, and I also liked how they offer a wide range of services. So, I knew I would get experience in all the different areas of Marketing.

What have you most enjoyed doing while you have been with GRA?

I really enjoyed researching and writing the blog posts for different companies- this was interesting as I learnt a lot about the clients that GRA have as well as improving my writing style. I also enjoyed meeting and talking to new, interesting people.

What have you learnt that you didn’t know before?

I have learnt about some of the different techniques that are used when advertising products and how these techniques may change depending on what the campaign objectives are. The one thing that I was surprised to find out was that for every client a different approach is taken in terms of how to advertise their company- for some of GRA’s clients they use the digital channels such as Google Ads, SEO and Social, while others are more suited to more traditional channels such as TV, press and radio.

Has your time with GRA convinced you to work in the big bad world of Marketing?

My time with GRA has definitely given me an option of working in Marketing as I really enjoyed my time with them and found it very interesting however I’m still not completely sure what industry I would like to work in. So, I probably need a few more work experience placements before I make up my mind! Luckily, I have time on my side!

We are so glad you enjoyed yourself Rebecca and that your work experience placement with GRA was worthwhile! We hope to see you again soon and wish you all the best for your upcoming exams and future career!
